10 Outdoors Activities That Students Can Do This Summer
March is almost here and the temperature is starting to rise. So, it is not surprising that kids would want to just stay indoors where there are electric fans and air condition.
But what if we tell you that there are outdoor activities for kids that are fun and do not compromise comfort? Get some inspiration from this list:
Slip ‘n Slide
As the name implies, it is an outdoor activity wherein kids can slip and slide on a large roll of thick plastic sheeting (or old tarpaulin) splashed with water. You may even add pool toys for an added summer vibe.
The best things about setting up a slip ‘n slide is that:
- It encourages your kids to enjoy the outdoors
- It is a fun way to beat the summer heat
- You can DIY your own slip ‘n slide
You can even set it on a slight slope so that your kids can totally slide on the plastic sheet.
Water Fight
Summer is also a great time to bring out and fill those water guns and host a water fight.
Water guns and water balloons are a great substitute if you do not have a yard or your area makes it is impossible to set up a slip ‘n slide. Not to mention that is one way for kids to have fun and stay cool during summer.
Just make sure that you also have towels handy, so your kids can dry up afterward.
Treasure or Scavenger Hunt
If you are concerned about the water bill that the previous activities might incur, then you may opt for a treasure or scavenger hunt.
All you need to do is create a map by burning the edges of a paper and staining it with coffee. And then let your kids follow a trail where they can find the treasure.
If your kids are aged 10 and up, you can level up the treasure hunt by involving your trusted neighbors and instructing them to give additional clues as to where the kids can find the treasure.
Outdoor Bananagrams
Think of Bananagrams as scrabble, only you get to build your own word grids. Outdoor Bananagrams, on the other hand, are turning those small tiles into 12 inches x 12 inches ones so you can play it with the rest of the family in your yard.
The cool thing about this game is that every player gets to stretch their vocabulary and have some exercise without them knowing.

Frisbee Tic-Tac-Toe
Frisbee tic-tac-toe is another simple and affordable way to enjoy the warm weather with the kids.
All you need to do is make a tic-tac-toe grid on a white tarp or shower curtain. Lay it on the ground, secure the corners with rocks, set up a throw line, and you are ready to play!
You can play one-on-one or have two teams. Each team has its own color or frisbees, and then they will take turns on throwing a single frisbee on the board.
The game is over when one team is able to land three frisbees in a row.
Drip Drip Splash
Drip Drip Splash is like Duck Duck Goose, only you will need a cup of water.
The kids will sit in a circle, and them one of them (which is “it”) will walk round and round while saying “Drip drip… Splash!” Every time the “it” says “drip,” he or she will drip some water from his or her hands on other players.
And saying “Splash!” means the “it” will dump the cup of water on someone’s head.
Outdoor Camping
Your kids’ summer experience is not complete without outdoor camping. This is easy if you have a yard or you live somewhere near a landscape where you can pitch a tent, set up a campfire, and make s’ mores.
Luckily, Quest Adventure Camp is just 45 minutes away from SM Masinag. Meaning, you can go camping in a clean and safe outdoor venue that is near Metro Manila!
Campfire Party
Inline with outdoor camping, it would also be fun to have a campfire party with family, friends, and classmates.
Mind you, some of the best summer memories that kids can have is being able to roast veggies and s’ mores in a fire pit.
Local Hiking
Since your kids are already outdoors, what another way to enjoy it than hiking?
It allows them to explore and appreciate nature, as well as make good use of their energy. If you’re a fan of the outdoors, you might want to read Gretchen Filart’s list of child-friendly hiking trips.
Outdoor Movie Night
If your kids prefer something relaxed, then you might choose to set up an outdoor movie night.
All you need is a white screen, a projector, your kids’ favorite movie, and some popcorns to snack on.

With some creativity, it’ll be easy to make a memorable and fun summer activity for your kids. And if you intend to bring it outdoors, feel free to give Quest Adventure Camp a call!
